Puerto Rican Migration on Hurricane Maria's Aftermath

When the New-York based smartphone data analysis company Teralytics tracked data from around 500,000 phones in order to accurately map where Puerto Ricans migrated after Hurricane Maria on real time, this is what it found.

Smartphone location data shows  where Puerto Rican residents went after the Hurricane and when they came back.The outflows of Puerto Ricans is represented with red dots and the inflows with blue dots.

The data shows that the between October 2017 and February 2018 this states received the most Puerto Ricans:

1. Florida

2. New York

3. Pennsylvania

4. Massachussets 

5. Texas

The map also shows that 359,813 of 407,465 of Puerto Ricans had already returned to the island by February 2018.
